It was an evening of promising beginnings: of friendships made, commitments pledged, and journeys embarked upon together.

Inevitable, when rare disease stakeholders comprising patient organisations, physicians, social workers and pharmaceuticals with the same concerns and hopes came together to engage with and learn from one another at Working In One Voice, an event organised by Rainbow Across Borders (RAB).

RAB, Asia’s first patient support alliance, was set up early this year with the aim of supporting chronically-ill patients and their families in Singapore and Asia.

“Working In One Voice was conceived with the intention of uniting the various patient groups and stakeholders in Singapore. With this, we hope to be able to make a difference in the lives of caregivers and patients challenged by rare diseases,” said Rajakanth, Executive Director of RAB.

Patient advocates from Japan and Hongkong also took part in the event. Following this, RAB has planned a series of roundtable discussions with the participants of Working In One Voice to identify future collaborative projects for rare disease patient groups in Singapore.
